New Look for Texas Driver's Licenses
- New colors, fonts, and an illustration of the City of Austin skyline will grace a new look for ID cards in the State of Texas.
The Department of Public Safety says the changes were needed to add new security features that protect against things like counterfeiting and photo swapping.
The changes will help authorities verify the authenticity of the cards to help prevent several types of fraud.
Production of the new cards began April 15 for residents receiving new or renewal cards.
Current cards are still valid and will be phased out as they expire.
