U.S. Set to Offer Huge Arms Deal to Saudi Arabia Score: More about Printer Friendly Send to a Friend Save as PDF Read More...

WASHINGTON — The Bush administration is preparing to ask Congress to approve an arms sale package for Saudi Arabia and its neighbors that is expected to eventually total $20 billion at a time when some United States officials contend that the Saudis are playing a counterproductive role in Iraq.

The proposed package of advanced weaponry for Saudi Arabia, which includes advanced satellite-guided bombs, upgrades to its fighters and new naval vessels, has made Israel and some of its supporters in Congress nervous. Senior officials who described the package on Friday said they believed that the administration had resolved those concerns, in part by promising Israel $30.4 billion in military aid over the next decade, a significant increase over what Israel has received in the past 10 years.

THE US ambassador to the UN accused Saudi Arabia and other US allies in the Middle East today of undermining efforts to curb violence in Iraq.

UN envoy Zalmay Khalilzad acknowledged on CNN he was also referring to Saudi Arabia when he wrote in an opinion piece in The New York Times last week that "several of Iraq's neighbours - not only Syria and Iran but also some friends of the United States - are pursuing destabilising policies".

"Yes, well, there is no question that ... Saudi Arabia and a number of other countries are not doing all they can to help us in Iraq," Mr Khalilzad, the former US ambassador to Iraq, told the US news network.

America Coordinated Security with Suspected Hamas Agent Score: More about Printer Friendly Send to a Friend Save as PDF Read More...

JERUSALEM -- The director of a major Palestinian Arab security force who coordinated security directly with American officials is suspected of being an agent for the Hamas terror organization, The New York Sun has learned.

Yussef Issa, director of the Preventative Security Services, is accused by Palestinian Authority President Abbas' Fatah organization of working on behalf of Hamas, Fatah sources said. The PSS was the largest of the American-backed Fatah security forces that operated in Gaza until Hamas took over the territory last month. The force continues to operate in the West Bank and coordinated security there with America.

A fundamental front in the war.

Stanley Kurtz

Unless we counteract the influence of Saudi money on the education of the young, we’re going to find it very difficult to win the war on terror. I only wish I was referring to Saudi-funded madrassas in Pakistan. Unfortunately, I’m talking about K-12 education in the United States. Believe it or not, the Saudis have figured out how to make an end-run around America’s K-12 curriculum safeguards, thereby gaining control over much of what children in the United States learn about the Middle East. While we’ve had only limited success paring back education for Islamist fundamentalism abroad, the Saudis have taken a surprising degree of control over America’s Middle-East studies curriculum at home.

Mourning the Architect of Modern Terror

Mourning the Architect of Modern Terror
The world’s first awareness of Palestinian terror came when Israeli athletes were murdered at the Munich Olympics in 1972 in an unbelievable incident carried out by Black September and Fatah, Arafat’s forerunner of the Palestinian Liberation Organization.   I well remember when Yassir Araftat stood before the General Assembly at the United Nations in 1971 holding an olive branch in one hand and waving a pistol in the other.  “Do not let the olive branch fall from my hand!” he warned.

Our former president Jimmy Carter has released statements that can only be construed as honor and praise, saying that Arafat was a “powerful human symbol and forceful advocate” who organized the movement for a Palestinian homeland.
